What Started MORMONISM, Anyway? -------------------------------------------------------------- Mormonism is based on the working hypothesis that an Extra Terrestrial Space Alien from a planet called 'Kolob', in the constellation Cancer, landed on our blue Earth around the year 1820. The Alien, a male humanoid, could hover above the ground, glowed brighter than the noonday sun and spoke English. The Alien gave the boy, aged fourteen, some plates made of gold. The plates were inscribed in hieroglyphics which could be trans- lated by means of Universal Translator devices. The alien broughtsome of the translators along on his trip. He gave the plates and the Universal Translators to the farm boy. The translator is a two-part device. Each part has its name. Part 'A', the ET explained, is called "Urim" on the home planet, and part 'B' is named "Thumim". Both Urim and Thumim are made of a transparent stone-like material. The boy used the devices to view the holy Golden Hieroglyphics, which were thus compiled into nineteenth century farmer colloquial English prose. After some grammatical corrections this text became what is known as the 'Book of Mormon'. The Urim and Thumim today rest on the central north facing window sill in the church president's office -- a skyscraper, the world headquarters of the Mormons, also known as the Church of Latter Day Saints. Urim, Thumim have never been examined by science; the Golden Hieroglyphics vanished shortly after their deciphering. Mormons, like all religons in the USA are tax-exempt.© 1999 @ Com
