A blog for Scams -- Dishonesty -- Abuse -- Bait-and-Switch

  I rented a hotel room.

The bill was much higher than shown on the web.
Does this suck?

... this place looks worse in real life.

 The short of it...

They tried to cheat me by billing for the higher Travelocity price instead of their lower advertised price.

Would stay at this hotel ?

 The boring details...

The reservation via Travelocity.com for 2 days cost $144 per day.

Then  I decided to fly early, so I called the Airway Inn LaGuardia Airport hotel directly -- not Travelocity. I made a second, separate 1-day reservation for the day before. According to the hotel's web page, the price would be CHEAPER, as shown below.  The published price was 30 dollars less --  $114.

The next morning, we thought that the room had been unsatisfactory, so we decided to go to Sheraton (very good, BTW).  We had  canceled the more expensive Travelocity reservation, according to Travelocity's terms.  No problem -- so far -- until we reached the check-out desk.

To my surprise, the Airway Inn LaGuardia Airport hotel decided to bill me the 30-dollar-higher Travelocity rate which I had reserved separately.  I objected.  I got nowhere; the manager (pictured below, posing as guest) insisted that I pay the higher amount.

I paid. I told him that I would make a web page about this.  This is it.

Would YOU be angry?

What kind of way is this to run the Geschäfte?

The neighborhood of the hotel was... well a neighborhood.

My woman had waited in the hotel lobby for my arrival from the airport.  She complained that the hotel clerk behind the bullet-resistant check-in window was rude to her, before my arrival.

The room was small (so small, that the the mice were stoop-shouldered :).   It was quite difficult to walk between the foot of the king size bed and the TV's "entertainment center" cabinet.

The night was chilly and the room would not heat up.  We called for an extra blanket.  We received a smelly , thin blanket full of holes.

This is why we decided to leave.

The video vending machine near the elevator, filled with soft porn tapes,  was stocked adequately, but is not for "family" there.  It's more for Larry Lounge Lizard, it seems.  My woman said that wile waiting, she saw prostitutes coming and going -- I don't know from that, I wasn't there.  But of course I believe her.

Good luck!

Is a better deal available on the 'Net ? -- Yes, but don't use Travelocity.com !  It's expensive!
I'm no expert, but I think better deals can be had.  Just search in GOOGLE.  Use Travelocity to get an idea, and the make your own deal, only a better one than mine!

The Credit card statement came:

 I disputed the extra charge.

My REFUND...  It had be be extracted, mit Ach und Krach :) I had to petition my credit card company --

Dear Mr. Adel,
Thanks for your reply and for your invitation. I don't mean to keep bothering
you, so it's OK with me of you don't write back. This weekend I emailed the
webmaster of this web site that gave your hotel a bad gig and he assured me
that everything he put out there is so, with regards to the rudeness of the clerk,
and trying to charge a higher fee and not refunding, and the dummied-up
dishonest hotel picture; you probably know which one I mean. It seems you were
either somewhat dishonest or you did not try or try to understand whatever
situation obtained there in that dispute. He said you were very recalcitrant
in refunding and never even apologised even after he made your website. I'll pay
more at the other hotel but it should be free of hassles and cheating over a
few dollars, that's worth something, for sure.

 Dear reservation desk,
I was going to book at your hotel, because we are
visiting my husband's parents in this neighborhood but after
researching on the internet I happened upon a web site that is
derogatory of your establishment as where someone took the time to
make a complaint "blog" page there. We just want you to know and
also ask if those problems still exist or if they are fixed now.

  Sincerely,
