Scams -- Dishonesty -- Abuse

  I bought this digital recorder.
I returned it because it did not work.

Does this suck?

Would buy from this company ?

The boring details...

I purchased this Digital Recorder Pen (it records about 2 hours :) form millionbuy.com.  It worked only intermittently -- at first it was almost not noticeable, but it got progressively  worse until the defect became obvious.  I returned it.  I could not get  a refund.  I have made many many calls, and I was beginning to feel that the company was stonewalling me.  But I didn't give up, and finally  I was told that I'd be issued a refund -- the company would give a credit on my credit card.  Now it's a month later, and my last credit card statement shows no refund.  So, I decided to tell you about this company.

I purchased this via the Yahoo! "Shopping: category.

Would YOU be angry?

This "pen" doesn't write, but it has a laser pointer.  The Parallel-printer interface and software to control it seldom worked, it's real "iffy" to get a file transferred, and usually the transfer did not work at all. (Later models had a USB port, I don't know how well that worked).  It appears that as of May 2005 this digital recorder pen has been discontinued.  I think a pen is more important in a pen than a laser.  Click on the image below.  It has no laser, but it writes.

Here is a .wav sound clip that was made with this pen (while it still worked:)  More from Mauna Kea, Hawaii.

I think this is a better product... this pen writes!

Does this suck?

This guy -- the proprietor did not read my email carefully and then tried to cover it up when I called him on it  --

 Here is how it began

I asked about the company's return policy and about the features of an item.

The company lazily replied asking what the item number of this thing is.

Later it became evident that the return policy did not depend on the item, after all.  It took a LOT of email correspondence to extract this bit of information from spytechs.com... aka Spy Chest Inc.

About this thing:  Pen Camera - Vid Cam

Does it have the ability to record sound only -- no video?

What is your return policy?

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps I should not have expected an answer here.. stupid me.

Now I guess I'd have to find the URL that you have in mind, but I'm not a mind reader.

How many models of Pen Camera - Vid Cam - do you have,  anyway?

Later email it's revealed that there are three models -- but he won't tell me that, not for now... Why?  And why is a model number ignorant when asking about the return policy?

I think you are able, but just too LAZY.
I'm going to add you here to my complaint web page unless you tell me not to.

Best regards, if applicable.

Hello,

We [yeah... we, ha ha? have done everything we can to assist you.
Let me recap the professional way you sent your first email:

You ask about a general product description. No. Actually I asked a quite SPECIFIC question :
"About this thing:  Pen Camera - Vid Cam Does it have the ability to record sound only -- no video?"

We respond[ed] with a question to better assist you with accurate information. "
What is the model number of the item you are inquiring about? "

You then become sarcastic with no intentions of a real question or answer in
mind.

We then simply state that we would not be able to assist you.

Then you make treats of a complaint.

In short, we have no interest in further communications with you or
providing you with products. Sarcastic and threatening remarks will not
afford you service by any standards from us. If you choose to conduct
yourself in that manner, you might have better luck at Wal-Mart. I hear they
will sell to anyone rude or not.

FYI: I believe you will find merchants more willing to assist you when you
observe common courtesies, Josh Fenwick. We simply do not need a sale that
badly from you.

Good Luck to you.

RE:  "Sarcastic and threatening remarks will not afford you service by any standards"

I'll let you know before I intend to use SARCASM so that you'll be able to recognise it.

And "thanks" for the sloppy, lazy, slovenly way of answering legitimate customer questions.  And for the enmity you show towards potential customers.  Apparently you have animosity but no return policy.

Perhaps returns depend on the model number of the item, as you say, (or even serial number?) so that your victims... er... "customers" are burdened to know and keep track of what it is kind of junk they might have gotten from you that they now want to return.

What a crock it is that you return policy depends on the model number of an item.  I'll use that as the lead IDEA in to the story of your activity on the net.

Kindest regards, if applicable,

Josh

In 24 hrs I'll have something online about you, let me know if you want to be appraised of the URL, etc.

Are you 5 or 6 years old?

I am 64 y.o.  I asked you about a product -- "Pen Camera - Vid Cam"  and you replied, asking which "Pen Camera - Vid Cam" I mean.

How many models of Pen Camera - Vid Cam you sell?  Not that I would ever do business with you.  I'm interested in your honesty, veracity.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate"

Best regards if applicable.

And it you ask if it had video?

One would have to wonder what Vid means. We offer 3 versions with Vid or VIDEO.

By now he has had plenty of opportunity go go over, review, previous correspondence and indications are that he has done this yet, nevertheless... he replies: "And it you ask if it had video?"

I' m sorry, but this is STUPID or DISHONEST.

Here he is trying to escape the MEANING of what this is all about --  DISHONESTY.  Let's discuss what VID means.  It depends of what the meaning of VID means : ) ...

As most understand -- Vid is the common abbreviation (Latin), centuries old, for "Veni, vidi, vici"

Vid is a famous sentence spoken by Julius Caesar in @ 47 BC;  it translates as "I came, I saw, I conquered."
Why do you ask ?

Is your return policy different of each of the three models?
I'm not asking what your return policy is, I'm only asking if it is DISPARATE for the three.

Thank you kindly in advance for your reply,
--Josh

You were trying to insult me by asking if I'm 5 or 6 y.o.,    Yes?
Vid is the common abbreviation (Latin) wink wink, nudge nudge...

"Personally, can’t see the connection in your example."
That's because you are stupid... read a book, get an education.

And oh.. what about UNpersonally ? ... read a book, get an education.

I guess the Vid as you see it would apply to audio and video equipment. Personally, can’t see the connection in your example.

Top 3 items are pen video recorders on this page. http://www.spytech.com/body-worn-camera.html

Recommend you read the whole terms and conditions. But in short the return policy is the same on all items. If a product is opened or used you own it. The warranty is 1 year replacement or repair against manufactures defects.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you.

Sincerely,
Spy Chest Sales Team

Ahem...   "Sales Team"...

...as if you had a team.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you.  He's serving me?  WHAT A CROCK!

So... if, as you say "the return policy is the same on all items", the WHY in HELL did you ask me the model number of the item, before you could answer my question on return policy ???  What is wrong with you?

Are you  5 or 6 y.o.? I think you are stupid or mean or both.

Now piss off, you silly mean and belligerent person. Read a book, get an education.

In your original email you ask if the pen had video? There for the model question.

We consider these issues closed.

Please do not contact us further or attempt to place orders with our company.

"There for the model question"

RE -- "Please do not contact us further or attempt to place orders with our company."

... then yuo should NOT email back and you and your (ahem... "plural")  company should just go away, dry up...

RE:  In your original email you ask if the Vid Cam pen had video. There, for the model question.

You are LAZY.  Read a book; get an education.  I will publish this correspondence now, if that's OK; stay tuned.

Kindest regards, if applicable to someone like you,

Josh Fenwick

REFUND...

On July 23, I received the email message below.  This is NOT a full refund.  I paid $167 for this item -- The company kept about $40 of my money.  I don't believe for a minute that there was a system error, as is claimed, below. I think these people's first reaction is to cheat.

Victims:    Emails received will be posted here, with or without name and email address.
Rebuttals are accepted, but you must give name and email address.

By telephone (Jul 17, 2002), I called the company and found out that it had still made the refund.  I was told (by John) that they he will check on it, and he said that he would call back.  He did not.  This is part of millionbuy.com's STONEWALLING  strategy.  I will call again.

As of 7-17-2002, no refund has been forthcoming.  So, I'm making this web page to let you know that http://millionbuy.com/ is not a company I would use again.
